The family’s medical malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit alleged that Armor Correctional Health Services was negligent in failing to provide proper care while the woman was in the jail, and was further negligent in failing to timely send the woman to the hospital.

 

The jury awarded the surviving spouse and children a total of $16 million, which included $6 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages.
