COVID-19 Surge Leads To More Medical Malpractice Lawsuits

Justpoint CEO, Victor Bornstein, said he expected a second peak following the most recent surge at the end of 2020.

“Michigan is on the higher range of lawsuits related to COVID specifically,” Bornstein said.

 

According to Bornstein, COVID-19 related lawsuits made up about 4% of the medical malpractice lawsuits in Michigan.

 

“Negligence and misdiagnosis are some of the most common ones,”.

 

“It’s really a lot of stress on the hospital systems that make them make more mistakes. Understand it’s circumstantial and it’s not really the hospital’s fault but people are suffering from this,” he said.
