Lawsuit Alleges 16-Year-Old Died From Hospital Negligence

Sixteen-year-old Samson Fluck complained to his mother that he was experiencing chest pain and was having breathing problems. A Nurse Practitioner texted his mother that Samson had tested for Rhinovirus and strep throat and to “just give it more time.”

 

Three days after the hospital ER visit, Samson woke up with difficulty breathing. He died from cardiac arrest. An autopsy found a cancerous mass in the center of his chest that compromised his airway. The family’s Pennsylvania medical malpractice lawsuit alleges that the defendants breached the standard of care by failing to order a STAT CT scan as recommended by the radiologist who read the chest x-ray.
